Mastering Writing - Do not contract words

Words by Daniel Aleksandersen on 2006-05-28

Avoid contracting words when writing on the Web. This will ensure that even more readers can understand a text.

Avoid contracting words by writing for example You're a designer. Write the full sentence instead You are a designer.

This will ensure that more readers will understand a text. Especially international readers will appreciate well written content.

It has been theorized that avoiding contracting words will make search engines understand your content better. And even rate it higher for international visitors. Since they are more likely to understand it when it is well written.
