Words by Daniel Aleksandersen on 2006-06-14

Building a strong brand for Websites is as much important as any marketing strategy.

Here is how to use to figure out good Website name and domains!

It is easy to use Google Trends to figure out what terms is popular in search engines. Even to find out in which regions they are popular or limit the trend data to a spesific year/month or geographic area.

Making an example here with a quick analysies of The Web Design Journal:

Take a look at he trend chart for blog and journal in the US it is easy to figure out that journal is much more popular than blog. From that we conclude that Journal is a much better pick than blog in search engines.

And the sites' topic is Web design. But if we compare the trends for Web design and sports it might look like this site should have picked another topic. A more popular one…

It is also interessting to look at how people spell words. Take different ways of writing Web design mashed them up in Trends and it is easy to conclude that Web design is the best way.

Note: Theese tips are ment as guidelines to SEM and SEO.
