Multiple download methods

Words by Daniel Aleksandersen on 2006-08-22

To provide readers with alternate download methods is a popular way to save on bandwidth costs.

Here is a recommended layout for multiple download methods:

DownloadDownload Example.gif (218 kb)
Alternatively via BitTorrent, Magnet or Metalink.

This layout will be easy to understand for regular users, and yet powerful for advanced users.

The alternate download methods in the example are P2P file sharing protocols, but may also be used for mirrors and such.

Actually providing the user with information about the file size is something that no one seams to bother with these days. But it is actually important information for the user. Especially for low-bandwidth users.

The green arrow is something many users scan for when they are looking for a way to download a file. Especially on software information pages. It has become a familiar indicator for downloads.
