Why we need web typesetters

Posted on 26. Jul, 2007 by Daniel Aleksandersen in Typsetting, Web Design

I have planed a series of articles explaining why we need web typesetters. Today, most website copies are published by the copywriter directly. The aim of the series will be to raise awareness of why web typesetters really are needed. I will be explaining:

  • use of advanced Unicode for punctuation
  • why typesetters make the copy better
  • how it will improve the reading experience
  • how search engines could understand the content better

I will also be doing a style guide.

Due to shortcomings in WordPerss—my current publishing system—the series have been put on hold. I will probably be moving to Tobias Luetke’s Typo or Six Apart’s Movable Type SimpleLog before publishing the series.

Stay subscribed!

SimpleLog is that Ruby on Rails application, right? I have heard some great things about that one!

I am looking forward to your article series.
